Stephanie Janét is a writer, advocate, and founder of The Mighty Heart Warrior Project (TheMightyHeartWarriorProject.com), a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to CPR education and lifesaving access for families of medically fragile children. She is also the creator of Try My Hardest, a mission-driven brand inspired by her late daughter Makayla’s handwriting and her unwavering determination to keep going, even when the odds were stacked against her.
Her memoir, Trying My Hardest, is an unflinching, deeply human account of motherhood at the intersection of chronic illness, trauma, faith, and love. Beginning with a high-risk pregnancy complicated by lupus, the book follows years of medical crises—including pacemakers, kidney failure, seizures, an LVAD, and ultimately a pediatric heart transplant—while also examining the quieter battles: marriage, grief, resilience, and the cost of surviving what should never be survivable.
Written with raw honesty and lived authority, Trying My Hardest is both a personal story and a collective one, giving voice to caregivers, medically complex families, and anyone who has learned that survival is not heroic, but relentless. Stephanie writes not to inspire, but to tell the truth, her truth, and to make damn sure it’s remembered.
